The present study is concerned with the determination of the optimal shape for a package containing multiple heating elements.
The optimization tool has been developed based on the inverse heat transfer (IHT) approach, incorporating a direct problem
solver, a numerical grid generator, a direct-differentiation sensitivity analyzer, and the conjugate gradient method. Shape
design that leads to a specified outer surface temperature distribution is predicted by the approach. In this study, the effects
of internal heat generation on optimal shapes of the packagings have also been evaluated. Several practical cases with various
imbedded heating elements and thermal conditions are studied. Results show that the approach provides an efficient computer-aided

Kodaira and Néron classified and described the geometry of the special fibers of the Néron model of an elliptic curve defined over a discrete valuation ring with a perfect residue field. Tate described an algorithm to determine the special fiber type by manipulating the Weierstrass equation. In the case of non-perfect residue fields, we discover new fiber types which are not on the Kodaira-Néron list. We describe these new types and extend Tate's algorithm to deal with all discrete valuation rings. Specifically, we show how to translate a Weierstrass equation into a form where the reduction type may be easily determined. Having determined the special fiber type, we construct the regular model of the curve with explicit blow-up calculations. We also provide tables that serve as a simple reference for the algorithm and which succinctly summarize the results. 相似文献

Whereas there exists a mathematical proof for one-site breathers stability, and an unpublished one for two-site breathers, the methods for determining the stability properties of multibreathers rely on numerical computation of the Floquet multipliers or on the weak nonlinearity approximation leading to discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Here we present a set of multibreather stability theorems (MST) that provides a simple method to determine multibreathers stability in Klein–Gordon systems. In this paper we consider the problem of estimating an unknown joint distribution which is defined over mixed discrete and continuous variables. A nonparametric kernel approach is proposed with smoothing parameters obtained from the cross-validated minimization of the estimator's integrated squared error. We derive the rate of convergence of the cross-validated smoothing parameters to their ‘benchmark’ optimal values, and we also establish the asymptotic normality of the resulting nonparametric kernel density estimator. Monte Carlo simulations illustrate that the proposed estimator performs substantially better than the conventional nonparametric frequency estimator in a range of settings. The simulations also demonstrate that the proposed approach does not suffer from known limitations of the likelihood cross-validation method which breaks down with commonly used kernels when the continuous variables are drawn from fat-tailed distributions. An empirical application demonstrates that the proposed method can yield superior predictions relative to commonly used parametric models. 相似文献

Epilepsy is among the most common brain disorders. Approximately 25–30% of epilepsy patients remain unresponsive to anti-epileptic
drug treatment, which is the standard therapy for epilepsy. In this study, we apply optimization-based data mining techniques
to classify the brain's normal and epilepsy activity using intracranial electroencephalogram (EEG), which is a tool for evaluating
the physiological state of the brain. A statistical cross validation and support vector machines were implemented to classify
the brain's normal and abnormal activities. The results of this study indicate that it may be possible to design and develop
efficient seizure warning algorithms for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
